Since the 1800′s at college football games in the United States tailgate parties were born.  Today they have become quite an event.  This has evolved into the tailgate party being held in, or around an open tailgate and if people do not have a tailgate, then the trunk or just around the social event is fine.  Normally there are many cars and people involved in this event and there is a lot of grilled food and drinking that also takes place before going into the stadium for the game.  If you have been to any sports event the food and drinks are very expensive and the tailgate party is also an opportunity to socialize and have fun.

As this has become a tradition in the United States, the pregame fun has also become popular before non-sports events such as weddings and school events.  The school events help to raise money for their school so this has become big too.  This gives the parents and coaches the ability to network and get support for the school and the team.  It is important to have more than just hot dogs so the crowd will buy more so having tailgate recipes will help, plus you will get the bragging rights when what you made sells out!
